Looks like GM has added another branch to my Automotive Family Tree. GM has signed a $293 million joint venture with FAW Group Corporation, a Chinese state-owned auto manufacture. The 50/50 joint venture will let GM use FAW existing plants to manufacture light duty trucks and vans.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Chinese auto maker BYD Co., is bring an all-electric battery car to the U.S. next year. BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu said that it’s ahead of the original schedule.
It’s also reported that BYD has an agreement with Volkswagen on a possible cooperation to develop hybrid cars and lithium-ion battery [...]

Koenigsegg has signed an agreement with GM to buy Saab. The company would take over 100 percent of Saab shares. Expect the deal to be done within a month, while GM is looking at closing the deal by the end of the year.

Sorry for not blogging as much as I normally do. My “real” job has had me supper busy the past month, but the deadline is rapidly approaching. I hope to start blogging again next week and maybe even start updating my diagram, if GM can figure out what to do with Opel.

Italian Industry Minister approved Fiat bid for Carrozzeria Bertone for 150 million Euros over three years.
