According to Autonew.com, all Mercedes-Benz cars will be turbocharged by 2010. With legislation in Europe and the U.S. forcing automakers to reduce emissions, turbo can help. Plus they are able to install smaller and lighter fuel-efficient engines without sacrificing performance.
The long-term goal for M-B is to go with zero-emission. The 2009 S Class will be offered as a full hybrid. I know that’s not zero-emission, but M-B plans to use fuel cells and electric-powered vehicles. Look for a Smart ForTwo full-electric car in 2010.
