Tired of driving in heavy rain only not to be able to see because of the semi-truck in front of you is throwing up so much spray you can’t see? Well a company called Spraydown may have the answer. They own a number of patents for a design called Air Water Separator Spray Suppression Mudflap. (talk about needing to shorten a name!)
The mudflap has a series of vertical vanes in a side-by-side, overlapping relationship in a panel. It traps the water to go directly down while letting air out its side-by-side. It’s hard to describe, but looking at the diagram makes more since.

So hopefully your friendly trucker or trucking company will make these mandatory on all trucks, making safer for everyone!
