The much anticipated Chevy Corvette ZR1 took a lap around the famed Nurburgring. According to Edmunds.com spy shooters on the ground, the ZR1 was turning lap times in the low 7:40s. Which considering the damp conditions and hand-time numbers, you can expect an official time to be quicker.
The 2009 ZR1 will be a limited-production ‘vette with a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 rated at 620 hp and 595 ft-lb of torque. It will come with a six-speed manual and on 335/35R20 in the rear (that’s 13” wide tire, for those doing the math at home). However price is expected to hit close to $100,000.
Just to compare, the Nissan GT-R has the official lap of the Nurburgring at 7:38. With dry track and official timers how much lower can the ZR1 to a lap? Three, Four, Five seconds? Hope to learn something soon!!
