While looking though my archive stack of AutoExpress magazines from the UK, I ran across something I missed. I’m always picking on Ford or GM for not bring cars from other countries that looks so much better then what they bring to us boring Americans. So when I found this article, once again I’m asking why can’t they bring this to the U.S.? Something to look forward to in the next round of major motor shows around the world, a Ford Capri. Yes, I said Capri. And no I’m not talking about the Mercury Capri/Mustang of yesteryear. I’m talking about today’s modern looks.
The Capri has the looks of the front of the UK Focus RS (which looks so much better then the US version). Inside is inspired by the Mondeo, which is another car that Ford should bring to the US. The sleek coupe style has a look of the new VW Scirocco (which is also not coming to the US). The curves on the car make the coupe look low and ready. Ready for me to trade in my GTI for it, and says a lot to me!
Noting much on what engine choices will be available in the 2+2 car. But rumors of the 3.2-liter V6 and all-wheel drive could be a possibility. And no word if it will ever be built.
If Ford keeps the Focus as a four-door, I don’t see why they could bring this over as a new coupe that needs to be the Ford line-up as gas prices keep high here in the States.
