
BMW is going to make a hatchback 5-Series…kind-of. This isn’t a traditional hatch, it’s what is called a “TwinDoor’ feature, which means it has the lines of a sedan, yet with the seats down, the back opens up larger, like a hatchback. The “TwinDoor” allows you open the back like a regular truck door, or open it with the back glass to open like a hatchback. This new feature will debut on the all-new 5-Series, due to launch in 2010 and the hatchback model will be in the range between the sedan and the wagon.
This concept is not new, the Skoda Superb in Europe came out with it earlier this year.
