Cerberus is getting setup to dump Chrysler. First the Private equity firm is making a deal with Daimler to buy the remaining stake in Chrysler. Daimler has 19.9-percent of Chrysler and has no interest in taking part in a merger between Chrysler and another automaker.
Reuters wire service is reporting that Cerberus is thinking about splitting up Chrysler between Renault SA and GM. It’s also looking at selling its Morpar parts unit, spin off its engineering as a separate company and separating Chrysler Financial.
Most don’t believe in the GM-Chrysler merger, but why not? GM would get rid of one more competitor.
