How cool would that be? A 4.5-Liter Duramax V-8 turbo-diesel in a Cadillac CTS? It might be a possibility in the future. The CTS is going to get a 2.9-liter V-6 diesel in Europe, so the V-8 diesel would be a great fit for America. GM says the 4.5-Liter Duramax is capable of 310 hp and tire-burning 520 lb-ft of torque plus it would meet the 2010 emissions standards. That makes it legal in all 50 states and get 20-25% better gas mileage then the Ultra V-8 engine (Ultra V-8 was going to replace the aging Northstar, but has been canned).
With Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi bring diesel cars that are 50-state legal, I guess it can’t hurt Cadillac to get into the game…
