Today Fiat and BMW are planning to cooperate on platforms and components. The collaboration is putting the possibilities for joint use of components and systems in the MINI, Fiat Grande Punto and Alfa Romeo MiTo. Fiat owns Fiat and Alfa Romeo while BMW owns MINI. Fiat has industrial alliances with PSA, Suzuki and Tata. BMW has alliances with PSA for engine production for the MINI.
The two companies are also considering developing a new family of gasoline and diesel engines. However, nothing more has been divulge on more details of the possible collaboration.

Add: It’s now reported that BMW will provide support in launching Alfa Romeo in North America. MINI U.S. dealers have the possibility to sell Alfa Romeo cars. This is interesting for that fact that most MINI dealerships are right next to BMW, which I thought Alfa was competeing aginst BMW in some cars?
