RIP Pontiac. Today, GM announced plans of speeding up its restructuring by shut over 40% of its 6,200 U.S. dealerships by 2014 and phasing out Pontiac brand by 2010. GM plans to continue to invest in Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. By the end of 2009, GM plans to spin off, sell or close Hummer, Saturn or Saab.
I guess this just shows how much I enjoy the “other” brands. I’d rather buy a Pontiac then a Chevy. Don’t like Buick, but they are selling like hot-cakes in China. Don’t understand GMC, but it still makes money. I love the new Saturn looks, I still say if Saturn would have brought over a VXR Astra I would have bought that over the GTI.

Update: Now it looks like Saturn will stop building vehicles end of this year (2009), not two years as earlier planned. However, talks are still going on about selling it to another automaker, most likely from China, or an investor.
