The UAW has finally stepped up and is going to help the big three. UAW President Ron Gettelfinger has agreed to delay making payments to a retiree health care trust in 2010. They has also agree to suspend the Jobs Bank program, which gave laid-off factory workers as much as 95 percent of their regular pay.
The union is will to make modifications to the 2007 contracts to help the Big 3. However, concessions on wages and benefits for active workers weren’t discussed.
