Looks like the title of “World’s Largest Car Manufacturer” has a new owner. Toyota Motor Corp. took the title from GM just a few years ago, but it seems that Volkswagen Group will surpass Toyota this year. The UK’s Guardian newspaper is reporting that VW sold 4.4 million units while Toyota did a lonely 4 million units.
How did VW do it? China. VW sold 223,000 units in American for 2008, while China bought 128,000 units in the month of July!
