The trend for small(er) cars has started. BMW has killed the X7, a large SUV that would go in line with the rest of the X-serious. It will however for 2010, bring over the BMW X1 and MINI Crossover. Rumor even has the BMW X1 as getting a hybrid by late 2010.
And now it seems that Audi will bring over the A1. Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi’s worldwide sales and marketing boss, told Automotive News, “A year ago, I would have said no, I did not see any trend in the U.S. which showed me that small cars could have a lasting, sustainable chance. I think this has changed. Therefore, we definitely have to reconsider the A1.” At the 2008 Paris Motor Show, Audi is showing off the A1 Sportback concept, a 5-door hybrid. Once again, the magic year is 2010.
